Clothing brand est. 2009 based in Malmö, Sweden.
Crime City Clothing started taking shape in Malmö 2009, with the idea and intention of creating an alternative clothing brand in an alternative way. I wanted it based on actual fairtrade and ecological fabric and having it printed with the discharge printing technique. The ecological fabric and this printing technique makes for clothes that feel really good to wear as well as high quality prints that will never crack or peel off. This is a more expensive printing method but sustainable quality is very important to me.
Some years ago I had a clothing store in Malmö where I sold other brands but I felt that there was something missing. Where were all the brands deeply attached to Rock 'n' Roll, Punk and Metal? I also felt that there was a great lack of brands that involved strong women. This was the main reason why I decided to start my own brand. At that time the brand was only meant to be sold in my store but has since evolved into what it is today.
All designs have sprung from my own imagination and ideas of what I would like to see on my prints.
Together with my friend Vince Ruarus we have made my ideas become a reality making each print very
personal.
Unfortunately in 2012 I was copied or bootlegged by a bigger company who copied my logo design. This made me want to make my designs even more personal using friends and family as the inspiration to the prints. Having my friends and family on the designs makes it extra fun and inspiring to promote and sell the prints at festivals and on the web. I have noticed that my customers really like the idea that there are real people and real stories behind each design. Over the years customers have even started to collect the different designs which is really fun and humbling.
When choosing the brand name I included my friends in the decision. I wanted them to feel part of the brand since they are the inspiration to the designs. Crime City Clothing was the name that most people were exited about and I felt like the name highlighted the rough parts of my journey well.
